IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Hythlodaeus
Species: Ancient
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Canon Point: Post-6.0
Character Age: Physically and mentally around his late twenties. Otherwise, many thousands of years old.
CRAU: Yes
CRAU Explanation: Hythlodaeus was briefly sent to a game called 7Dead! In this world, the concept of vices and virtues ruled, though their definition was loose; although Hythlodaeus was assigned Sloth/Diligence, it's only because of his carefree personality. Every month an event was held which encouraged AU exploration. Hythlodaeus made several friends in 7dead, but given the short amount of time he was present there were no lifechanging discoveries to be made besides the knowledge that his long-time crush, Emet-Selch, shared the same feelings.
Character Appearance: Here!
Powers and Abilities: Soul Sight: Hythlodaeus' most powerful ability is his soul sight, which allows him to see the soul colour and brightness/density of others, follow their aetheric trails (aether being the building blocks of life, and the essence of others) and pinpoint people across long distances by the colour of their soul alone. The brighter the soul, the generally "stronger" the person; however this can be interpreted in many ways, including strong willpower, physical or magical strength, etcetera.
Ancients in general also tended to recognise one another by their aetherial signature rather than by sight alone- this meant that despite wearing the same masks and robes in most cases, they could immediately recognise one another anyway. This isn't quite the same as soul sight, however, as one likely needed to be close enough to the other in order to discern who they were, whereas Hythlodaeus' soul sight allows him to find someone over a great distance.
Given his ability to see souls, Hythlodaeus can not be fooled by invisibility, nor can anyone effectively hide from him unless they can cloak their soul as well. Should someone shapeshift into an entirely different form, assuming Hythlodaeus knows what that person's soul already looked like it won't fool him.

Bard/Archer: His main attacks come from his ability to wield the bow efficiently, and indeed he's a good shot with his arrows! He can create arrows on the fly with creation magicks, rain arrows down upon his foes quickly and efficiently, and weaves his offensive magic in with his attacks. And as the name implies, there is a musical twist to some of his magic. He can summon his bow and make it disappear for later use at will.

Creation Magicks: Using aether, Hythlodaeus can weave clothing, tools, and even animals and plants into existence. He was better at this than most, able to effortlessly bend aether to his will, but more unwilling to use those powers if somebody else could simply do it for him.

Offensive Magicks: Capable of using fire and ice to dispose of his enemies. His most potent spell, Annihilation, could decimate the area affected by the spell completely- size dependent on how much effort he puts in. He very rarely uses this spell, however, and he absolutely cannot nuke a whole game or anything.

Teleportation: In a cloud of darkness, Hythlodaeus can teleport himself from one place to another. He can take up to one other person with him.

Healing Magicks: Hythlodaeus has access to potent healing spells and is capable of reviving an unconscious (but not dead!) ally as well as mending severe wounds.
What Did Your Character Wish For? To return to Amaurot as it was before the Final Days with Emet-Selch.
What Potion Did They Receive? Healing
Did They Drink It? Yes. Hythlodaeus can now heal minor cuts and scrapes by placing his hand over the affected area and focusing.

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?

Hythlodaeus is said to be joined at the hip with both Emet-Selch and Azem, to the point that everyone in the city knew to lead them to one another if they were apart. He's somewhat more close with Emet-Selch, though, because Azem often had to travel away for long periods of time due to his profession.

Emet-Selch has been Hythlodaeus' friend since childhood, the pair bonding over their ability to see souls stronger than most other Ancients. Hythlodaeus is part of the reason why Emet-Selch holds that title, as Hythlodaeus himself refused to title and nominated his friend instead. Even after learning of the atrocities Emet-Selch would go on to commit, he stuck by him and didn't judge him harshly. Truly, he believes their bond to be unbreakable.

2. What are they most afraid of?

Being useless to his friends and loved ones. He's never wanted much for himself besides the company of his dearest friends, but for them he would do his best to help them wherever he could. To think he was nothing more than a burden to them would crush him.

Though nobody has ever told Hythlodaeus that he's useless, his two best friends are a part of the Convocation of Fourteen. This said, they both wield power far greater than his own, whether that be physical prowess or magical powers. Though Hythlodaeus is described to be "better than most" at creation magicks, he willingly confesses to the Warrior of Light that he is "pedestrian or worse" at anything besides seeing souls, which doesn't quite add up.

3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?

Emotionally, his love for his people and his friends could be considered this. He would willingly walk into the jaws of death to spare them any kind of pain, and in fact he did. This could easily be exploited by someone else.

Mentally, he does tend to find himself lacking in comparison to his two best friends. He's competent in most areas of magic, he simply claims that he cannot transform, but snice he used to hang out mostly with two men of such great power his own powers seem weak in comparison, to him.

Physically, he has no hand to hand or melee weapon training and with no magic would be easy enough to overpower unless he had a bow and could stay at a distance.

4. What would make them happiest?

To be with Emet-Selch and Azem again, in a place where they could be happy and carefree the way things used to be. He loves them both dearly, and misses Azem terribly. Hythlodaeus is not entirely averse to change, but he did sacrifice himself in the end in the hopes that one day his people would live in peace again.

5. What’s their type for a lover?

Hythlodaeus isn't fussy, really. But he does seem to be especially drawn to haughty, unimpressed types- the complete opposite of his own character. He likes the idea of being chased, of being valuable enough to pursue, so someone with initiative would score points, especially if they're usually the stoic type.
