• White robes are a sign of fair and impartial reasoning- worn only by the Emissary and those who have stepped down from public office to serve as advisors. Black robes in general are worn by the populace with individuality frowned upon.

• Transformation is the act of manipulating a vast quantity of aether to construct another body around oneself. Allows one to assume any form. Transforming in the presence of others is considered to be vainglorious and unseemly, however.

• "With the exception of circumstances where identification was mandated, it was inappropriate to bare one's face to anyone save intimate friends. The custom was otherwise broken only when seeking earnest counsel, entreating a mentor for aid, or making a life-changing commitment."

• Ancients can sense each other's aether and tell who the other is this way, despite identical masks and robes.

• The Twelve were once Ancients, supporters of Venat who gave their essences to form the gods. They are as follows:
Byregot: A man with a gift for creating inanimate objects and buildings, who worked in a supervisory role at the Bureau of the Architect. He often had to make sure his carefree chief, Hythlodaeus, got his work done.
Azeyma: Served as a judicial officer at the Bureau of the Administrator. An ardent proponent of the seat of Azem, she dreamed of training under Venat and her successor.
Nophica: A landscape architect of great repute who grew plants gathered from the star over. She was skilled in magic, but she preferred to nurture plants, and her garden bloomed with beautiful flowers. All who visited were said to leave with their souls salved.
Althyk: Researcher named Alkaios who observed newly made creations in Elpis. Possessing mastery of time magicks, he was a kind-hearted but reticent man. Although it was at his sister's urging that he joined Venat's cause, he soon became a stalwart believer in the cause and always took initiative in discussion.
Halone: A formidable warrior tasked with hunting creations deemed detrimental to the star. She was considered a leading candidate for the seat of Pashtarot, preserver of discipline and order.
Menphina: The youngest amongst Venat's supporters, she was a student affiliated with the Words of Lahabrea at the Akadaemia Anyder. Considered a prodigy, she was responsible for creating the magicks that isolated and sealed Zodiark.
Thaliak: The headmaster of Akadaemia Anyder. A man of learning and leadership both, he presided over the institution's myriad faculties. No known phenomenon existed in which he wasn't versed.
Nymeia: Named Maira. An observer in Elpis, like her brother Althyk/Alkaios. Caring and inquisitive, she was liked and trusted by her peers. It is said that she began the tradition of offering flowers to the departed.
Llymlaen: A researcher at Metabaseos Thalassai, a facility for the observation and evaluation of sea life. Once threw a knife at someone for coming too close to her observation subject.
Oschon: A traveler who met Venat on her travels in the wilderness. They shared a campfire and discussed at length what it means to be free.
The Watcher: The chief archivist at Anamnesis Anyder, who cared deeply for Venat as a friend and individual. None was as devoted to her than him.

• Noetophoreon (the pink tree in Elpis) has blossoms that change with the seasons and aetherial balance of Elpis.

• The gardens of the Twelve Wonders reflect the balance of dynamic and stagnant aether of all six aspects. An excess of activity in a single aspect leads to "aetherial masses." This means the aetherial balance must be adjusted to maintain an ideal environment- a magic as "simple as breathing" for Ancients.

• In Elpis, aetherial dissipation of recently deceased creations is sped up using time magicks. The decay of the corporeal remains is accelerated, and absorbed back into the ground.

• The Ancients have a custom of offering flowers to those they love and admire. The tradition of laying flowers at one's grave began when the Warrior of Light visited Elpis and told Maira, Alkaios and Overseer Sokles of it.

• Extreme emotions towards one single person are rare, including parental figures. All are considered equals in the greater picture of the star.

• Anagnorisis is where creatures are assessed on whether or not they are fit for life upon Etheirys. It is named for the ethos at the centre of the Ancients' work, that being the discovery of the creations' true nature. (Anagnorisis means discovery/recognition in ancient Greek.) Also houses those who study the concepts housed at Ktisis Hyperboreia.

• The Twelve Wonders is where Ancients employ spellcraft from Amaurot to maintain and adjust the assorted climates through Elpis. Elpis is home to many climates in which many different concepts reside.

• Poieten Oikos means "home of those who've a way with words" amongst other things. It is a place where people come together to name concepts.

• The most extensive facility in Elpis, Ktisis Hyperboreia is a sprawling complex of magically simulated environs. Concepts awaiting evaluation are brought here for the last stages of observation, and, upon meeting the appropriate criteria, are finally released into the world at large.
• Metabaseos Thalassai is an annex to Ktisis Hyperboreia, and is mainly concerned with the observation and evaluation of sea life. Although its construction appears too narrow to support such an ambitious project, the building's interior harbours six separate marine habitats, each painstakingly recreated by arcane means.

• Lethe is a lake where creations deemed unsuitable for release are brought, where their life energies are magically unbound and allowed to dissipate.

• The Cthonic Horns is a facility in which the researchers are dedicated to manifesting new creations without the help of creation magicks. Their natural breeding program pairs creatures with differing characteristics, relying purely on chance to conceive heretofore unimagined possibilities.
